Teresa Richardson 

 

Teresa Richardson last appeared as featured soloist with the MSO in the '06-'07 season playing Saint-Saens Cello Concerto No. 1. Originally from Clifton, Virginia, Teresa began her study of the cello at age nine through Fairfax County Public Schools. Teresa earned graduate and undergraduate degrees in cello performance from Indiana University in Bloomington, where her instructors were Janos Starker, Emilio Colon, and Helga Winold.

An active freelance musician, Teresa has performed in many orchestras, including the Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, Evansville Philharmonic, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, National Repertory Orchestra, and Duluth Superior Symphony. She served as principal cellist of the National Orchestral Institute and is currently the principal cellist of the Metropolitan Symphony. Fulfilling a strong passion for teaching, Teresa is on the faculty at St. Joseph's School of Music and MacPhail Center for Music, and has taught at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
