Tom Schrickel, pianist

Tom Schrickel has been playing Brubeck music for nearly 40 years, going back to the early 1970s when his group included his brother Bill on bass and Steve Heinemann on alto sax. Tom played piano in the 2006 performances of Howard Brubeck’s “Dialogues for Jazz Combo and Orchestra” with the MSO and also joined Steve, Brian, and Terry in the quartet that performed “Elementals” under Bill’s direction in St. Cloud in 2007.
Tom is also an enthusiastic classical pianist. He is mostly self-taught and has studied and transcribed jazz music of Bill Evans, Dave Brubeck, and others. After college, Tom was accompanist for Fargo Hollis and occasionally led a quartet. For five years he played piano and synthesizer for the Jazz Consortium big band in suburban Chicago, which recently played a 35th reunion concert. Tom is a corporate finance professional based in Chicago.
